Part 3 - Citadel 7: Earth's Secret Trilogy

The US Review of Books said "Amidst other positive observations about book two in Yuan Jur's Citadel 7 series, War and Lies; Fans of science fiction that go deeper than space ships and bug-eyed aliens might want to give his series a try."

Yuan Jur's Citadel 7 series is vast in scope for any interested in grand scale Time Travel Paranormal epics featuring heroes and villains many and varied. Jur's third offering and award winning title, A Test of Good and Evil, launched World Wide through Promontory Press on the 4th of Oct 2016.

What's it about?

“Nothings as it seems!”

Like a dynamic spring board beyond anything we've seen before, the concluding volume of Citadel 7’s opening trilogy keeps our heroes Ben, Uniss and Dogg in a pressure-cooker to the very end. The existence of the Superverse now hangs in the balance. Ben Blochentackle's life and understanding of reality have been changed forever with what his mentors Uniss and Dogg have exposed him to. All he thought about his life is proving false. As the ante continues to be raised ever higher nothing it seems can stop Lord Herrex or his insane Evercycle mother, Three, from reaching their objective. Uniss has been kidnapped and Dogg’s life is at great risk as the Scarzen-Flaxon race war rages on. Underneath it all, something even more sinister is at work, and Ben discovers that he is somehow the key to either victory or oblivion for the entire conflict.

War And Lies: Book II Of The Citadel 7 Saga

War And Lies: Book II Of The Citadel 7 Saga
by Yuan Jur
Promontory Press

Reviewed by John E. Roper

"In his delirium, he tripped on something quite obscure and fell face down upon the ground in a sprawl, then felt the giant hand descend, grab him by the torso, and snatch him up."

Imagine if the universe that our scientists tell us about was itself a mere quadrant in an impossibly vast realm of existence known as the Superverse. In Jur's highly complex Superverse, countless mortal and ethereal races dwell and occasionally overlap with each other. Ruling it all are the Evercycles, beings of unfathomable power that are higher than the gods and lesser gods. This is the extensive sandbox that the author has chosen to build his ambitious Citadel 7 series in and one in which everything, even history and memory, are subject to change.

Citadel 7 Superverse Video ChannelNothing happens overnight in getting a book series published. Citadel 7 was always intended to be more than just an exciting saga. Its scope is immense, but the books are the bedrock.

Producing just one stellar story (novel) is hard. Producing a grand scale trilogy takes an even greater effort. But producing an 18 novel series with the first six titles as its foundation, yep that many, is well, something else altogether. By 2015, the series reached the next milestone in its evolution.

Happily, the more people who read the books and got involved with the stories and characters, the more they wanted. Up until 2010, there was little in the way of visual material, and the initial trilogy was just going through its first true essential editing process. From 2010 to 2016 several very talented professionals had gathered to form the core crew that brings Citadel 7 books and audio to life.

Master cover and sci-tech artists Ralph Hawke Manis, Angel Martin and Mick Rattanarupe gave vivid faces and visual shape to characters and technologies. Any flaws in the manuscripts were ironed out under the watchful eye of Editor John David Kudrick. 2011-12; the saga that was to become the Citadel 7 Superverse crystallized into the first six novels. 2013 onward, a sound team gathered to test the works before their impending publication, amongst them Nigel Cook and Series Production Manager, Charles Wannop. A music theme for the entire audio visual presentation also began with the aid of composer-performer Chris Ficher.

So as you can see from the above, a lot goes into the superverse realm building. After all, the story does involve saving all existence from oblivion. Plots and challenges for the heroes and heroines, surprises (there are many) and shock events (even more of them) must be thought through and rated. Several character growth arcs amidst an over-aching theme take some time to build to ensure integrity. Getting all that right results in a cohesive series that has real longevity and reader/lister appeal.
